Warriors of the Wasteland

Warriors of the Wasteland (WotW) is a simple fantasy game of mercenaries, barbarians and thieves roaming a land ravaged by vile sorcery. 

Characters led by the players are people of sword and dagger, warrior-thieves with a great appetite for life. Magic is inherently evil, the protagonists of the game do not use it. Wizards deal with demons and eldritch beings from beyond space and time, and are inhumanely vile, just as the magic they use.  

What is the gimmick here? There are no fixed numbers used, you roll all kinds of dice to increase your chances of success instead. All rolls are effectively opposing test, so the difficulty is very random and the game may take unexpected turns each time the dice are rolled. 

The game was designed in the vein of OSR principles, however it departs from the typical design assumptions of the first wave clones and somewhat differs from your usual low-level meat-grinding games as the characters are rather competent in mechanical terms.  

WotW is intended to be played as a free-form (or sandbox, if you prefer) game. Base the game on locations, not on scripted events. Paint the starting situation and let the players decide what to do with it. All participants should play to find out what happens.
